A Wonderful Weekend....

Oneida Baby Shower Weekend

  • Me, my sister-in-law, Melissa and mother-in-law, Kathy.
Jamie, Jessica, me and Tammy (friends since elementary school)!Aunt Colleen, me and Grandma Thurston

My cousin, Jenny, me and my cousin, Julie.

This past weekend my mom and Nonny (my grandmother) threw me a baby shower in Oneida! It was so great seeing all of my family and spending time with my very best friends from elementary school. Our friends and family were very generous and Gherkin has lots of toys, clothes, diapers, pacifiers, etc. It is amazing to think he will be here so soon! Time is flying by!

The Nursery - is OFFICIALLY - the Nursery!

  • Tonight Jeff and I got home from work and got down to work! We finished "clearing" the nursery so now the only stuff in there belongs to Gherkin. Jeff did the heavy lifting and I helped where I could. It took a few trips to the basement but the room is finally all his.

  • Seeing the room with the crib and slowly filling it with baby clothes, baby toys, etc. makes this whole pregnancy seem so much more real. It is so hard to believe that he will be here in less than 3 months or 12 weeks or 80 days! However I look at it these days it seems so soon. I am so excited to meet him and see what he looks like but there is a part of it that is very scared. We will now have a human being that is going to rely on us for everything. I am sure all parents-to-be feel this way at one time or another. One thing is for sure though...it will certainly be an adventure!

A Friend Filled Weekend!

We had a busy but very fun friend filled weekend! On Saturday, we were up and on our way to New Paltz to have lunch at McGuillicuddy's in New Paltz...the old stomping grounds! Anne and Dane joined us! We had a great time catching up and rembering the old days. I also endulged in the chicken and spinach dip that I love from McGuillicuddy's! Yumm! Now I am craving it more than ever!

Then this morning Star and I took a trip to Lee, MA to go to the Carter's, Gymboree, Osh Kosh and GapBaby outlets! We had a great time and I showed great restraint - only purchasing 2 items! It was also nice to pick her brain on this wonderful labor and delivery thing I have ahead of me. Since she just did it 6 months ago she is a wealth of information!! I also got to see my more adorable godson, Liam! He was all smiles today!

This evening Tony and Meghan came over and we went to dinner at Horn's Tavern in Brunswick, NY! Meghan's little brother, Brendan, opened his own resturant so we were out to show our support. We had a very yummy dinner and as usual some great conversation.

So, the weekend flew by and I can hardly believe it is Sunday evening and we are back to work tomorrow AM....ugh! Gherkin seems to be doing well! Moving all around like crazy...loving it!

The 3rd Trimester Has Arrived!!!

Well, it has been a busy week and it seems like things are not going to be slowing down anytime soon! On Monday, I had a prenatal appointment and my 1 hour glucose test. Everything looked great! Gherkin is growing right on schedule and his heartbeat sounded great. He actually kicked the doppler while my OB was listening to him...it was funny! He had been quite a "mover and shaker" this week....making his prescence known! I have to say that is preobably the best thing about being pregnant....feeling the baby move! I still have not received the results of my glucose test....maybe no news is good news?? I hope so....we will see!

Jeff and I have a fun weekend planned that we are looking forward to! Saturday we are off to New Paltz to visit my friends Anne and Dana from college who I have not seen in a while! I cannot wait to catch-up with them! Then we plan to walk about good old New Paltz and if the weather is nice take a ride up to Minnewaska Lake State Park. On Sunday, Star and I are headed to Lee, MA to visit the Carter's Outlet!! Although, I have to control myself because I have already bought Gherkin alot of stuff! We will see how that goes! And if time allows, Jeff and I are going to work on the nursery a bit more! I painted to his name last night so we can hang it in the nursery over his changing table - too cute! We are making lots of progress but we still need to get the crib built and into place!

I am a Pregnant Slacker!!

I am feeling very guilty I have not been keeping up with the blog. It has now been over a month since I last wrote. But, we have been very, very busy!! Let's see....here is a summary of what has been happening:
  • Our most adorable godson, Liam Charles Gregory, was baptized on April 3, 2010! We were thrilled to play such a meaningful role in the big day and are honored to be his godparents.
  • My wonderful mom and dad came to visit in early April! That weekend Jeff and my dad painted the nursery! Very exciting. The following weekend Jeff and my father-in-law began building the baby furniture. So, far the dresser/changing table (thanks Nonny!), glider rocker (thanks Star, Andrew and Liam!) and the bookcase have been put together. We have the crib and will be putting that up shortly!
  • Jeff decided to come with me on one of my work trips to NYC. We had a great time and stayed just outside of Times Square! We enjoyed some yummy meals out and also found time to see Phantom of the Opera (wonderful....Gherkin seeemed to like it....he moved around like crazy the entire time). Also, while we were in Times Square we went to the visitor's center and wrote a wish for Gherkin on a piece of confetti that with be tossed over Times Square this coming New's Year's Eve.
  • We helped our adorable neice Allison celebrate her 6th birthday by attending her family party as well as working at her Carnival themed friend party. All of her friends from school came! Jeff dressed up as the carnival barker and I was in charge of the carnival treats (only makes sense to put the pregnant woman in charge of food!)
  • Last weekend Jeff and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniverssary with a trip to Portland, Maine! We had a great time and were able to catch 2 Portland Seadog baseball games, did some shopping for the babe on the way and enjoyed a nice dinner out together. This will be our last mini vacation as a two-some!!
  • This weekend we are off to Oneida to visit my mom, dad and grandmother's for Mother's Day. We are also headed to a Syracuse Skychiefs game with Derek and Bri to celebrate his 27th birthday (wow....we are getting old)!

So, that is what we have been up to! Baby Gherkin has been very active! We cannot wait for him to get here...94 more days to go!! That just does not seem possible!
